Greenerd Press & Machine Co., recently shipped a compression molding press for producing lighting fixtures from SMC (sheet molding compound).
To meet the customer’s production requirements, Greenerd designed a pre-fill hydraulic system to deliver rapid closing (700 IPM) and rapid opening (600 IPM) speeds. Pressing speed is programmable from 1 to 20 IPM and initial opening speed is also programmable from 1 to 20 IPM to prevent part damage during die opening. The hydraulic system also includes an auxiliary manifold for customer tooling actuation.
The press shown here with its powerful industrial computer touch screen control has on-board storage for all job setups. Its data acquisition feature can track speed, tonnage, pressure, distance and time for each press cycle. It also has charting capabilities. The 4-Post press has light curtain protection on all four sides.
Greenerd was founded in New England in1883, and since 1934 has produced thousands of hydraulic presses designed and built to stand the rigors of 3-shift manufacturing. |
