Greenerd recently delivered a 500-ton 4-Post hydraulic press for an application requiring extremely close tolerance deflection, flatness and parallelism. The press bed and platen are 60" X 60" and deflection, flatness and parallelism are all within 0.001".
The press, shown here, has light curtain protection front and back, and fixed side guards. The powerful Touch Screen Control allows the operator to retrieve over 100 programs from memory and automatically set the press parameters for each job. In addition, the operator can write new customized programs using a simple recipe procedure. The control also has a built-in modem for remote diagnosis.
The customer is a leading developer and manufacturer of clean and efficient fuel cell power generators. This close tolerance press is critical for pressing fuel cell panels during glue setup.
The previous method resulted in a 30% scrap rate. Panels produced on the Greenerd press have a zero scrap rate. The press is running 24 hours - 7 days.
Greenerd was founded in New England in 1883, and since 1934 has produced thousands of hydraulic presses designed and built to stand the rigors of 3-shift manufacturing. |
