Greenerd Press & Machine Co., recently shipped a pair of 50-ton compression molding presses for producing automotive sound dampening products from acoustical non-woven fabric.
The customer had previously made its own hydraulic presses using 100 hp motors. Greenerd’s design uses only a 7 ½ hp motor, but doubled press speed, and improved part thickness variation from +/- .120" to +/- .010".
Greenerd’s conventional operator’s controls improved safety and, in addition, the press frame design greatly improved operator accessibility to load and unload parts, and to change dies.
Shown here, this up-acting press has a bed size of 110" x 48".
Greenerd was founded in New England in1883, and since 1934 has produced thousands of hydraulic presses designed and built to stand the rigors of 3-shift manufacturing. |
