Greenerd recently delivered a tandem-press production cell, to a major bearing manufacturer for producing sleeve bearings.
Shown here, the cell consists of two Greenerd designed and built hydraulic presses; one a 7-ton bench press mounted on the side of a 100-ton C-Frame press.
The 100-ton press has two 50-ton vertically opposed double-acting hydraulic rams, and a 1-ton eject cylinder mounted in the throat of the press. Both hydraulic rams can operate at full tonnage (50 tons each) or minimum tonnage (10 tons each) for forming, and coining.
The cell was designed around customer-provided tooling, which required minimum frame deflection, tooling protection safety alarms, and a production rate of 24 pieces per minute. Greenerd’s powerful Touch Screen controls the entire cell, including all four hydraulic rams and stock feeder, makes job set-ups easy, and lets the operator retrieve any previously run jobs.
When operated in full automatic mode, strip stock is fed into the 7-ton press, where it is marked and pierced. The strip is then fed into the 100-ton press where it is cut off, formed, and coined. It is then ejected onto a conveyor. |
